Thinking Out Loud

Just thinking about what I have read lately. Justin back in jail because of a violation of bail condition. It would seem the authorities are keeping a close eye on Justin now. Before his assault charge he was free to come and go as he pleased. Could Courtney Roberts have some information LE feels may help in the location of Ayla Reynolds, or what went on that night?

I think about Trista coming out with a small portion of the planned September 24th release of evidence to the news media. Did the arrest of Justin have anything to do with that? Smart move on her part to keep Ayla awareness in the media and fresh on peoples minds.

People wonder would Trista lie about what she was told? What if anything would be gained by stretching the truth? She could cause LE to come forward and deny the facts as she recalls them. How would that help Ayla? I think she will stay as close to the facts as she possibly can not to hurt her quest for justice.

Will Justin come out finally and tell all he knows of that tragic night on Dec 17, 2011? Can he explain away the blood in the basement, on his shoe, in his truck and some mixed with saliva?
Will he remain silent and wait for LE to make a move before speaking out?

If the evidence shown on Jan. 3rd was so unequivocal according to LE why has there not been an arrest? If they are 99% sure Ayla will not be found alive why no arrest of any of the three there that night? Surely they could arrest someone for obstruction of justice and they would start to talk of what happened.

What can LE and the AG be thinking ? What will it take to find this young child and have justice served? How many signatures will it take to get a definite answer one way or the other from LE? Either your unequivocal evidence proves she is deceased or it doesn't which way is it?

On September 24, 2013 LE the ball is going to be in your court. What will you do?

I think it is time for LE to step up to the microphone and make an announcement.

Just my opinion whats yours?

  1. Very nice post Dana. I too hope LE makes a statement. It's been too long since they had anything to say. I don't believe Trista will lie about the evidence she'll release. She'd have nothing to gain by lying and everything to lose.

    1. Someone just shared this case with me. It reminds me a bit of Baby Juliette's murder, and Baby Ayla's case. Although Ayla hasn't yet been found, this offers a glimpse of Trista's frustration over the lack of answers in her daughter Ayla's disappearance and probable death. Baby Evan's death was ruled a homicide, and eleven months later this poor mother is still waiting for an arrest. Heartbreaking!

"Corbett has not been charged with a crime and continues working at the base, where he issues protective equipment to airmen and controls inventories. An Air Force spokeswoman said Corbett would not agree to be interviewed for this article or to provide the name of the civilian attorney he has hired."

    3. Just heartbreaking, isn't it Dee? Apparently, this was kept from the public until just recently when this young mother decided to push for justice for her little boy. ELEVEN months of no answers when it has already been ruled a homicide?! Ridiculous!

Justin has a lot to explain. He has denied anything ever happened.
What if someone else was involved?
I hope LE gives us some answers.
    Poor Ayla. So sad.

  3. "Merrill asked, “State police say you know more about Ayla's disappearance than you're telling them."
    To which DiPietro said, “OK.”
Merrill: “What do you say to that? Is that true?”
    "Absolutely not," DiPietro said.

DiPietro said he’s still living in Waterville with his mother. He said he is still looking for Ayla and said he doesn’t exactly recall the details of his last contact with state police.

"My answer's going to be the same thing for everything. You know what I mean? I've told the people that need to know what's going on what's going on and that's that. You know what I mean? If you keep asking me, you're going to keep getting the same answer, man,” DiPietro told Merrill.

  5. I agree Dee. I long believed that Trista was lying. She made quite a few mistakes in her statements in the past. But I really don't believe now she is lying. And LE has not denied any of her statements this week. And anyone can read the emotion on her face. She is truly grieving for Ayla. She knows she died, LE told her. It's becoming harder to believe in Justin's innocence now.

  6. I think the question isn't whether or not Trista is lying about the blood, but what was LE's intention in sharing this information with Trista? It doesn't sound like they told her what a mother should know. As Jeff as pointed out, they are under no compulsion to tell anyone anything about the evidence they have collected, much less the truth. They could be telling Justin and his family one thing and Trista and her family something completely different, both true, or misleading, depending on how you look at it.

If they asked her not to reveal this evidence publicly as it could hurt the case (which is what Trista claimed in January 2013), they had a good reason for asking. Either it could damage the case, or it isn't true.

For there not to be any arrests with this type of evidence collected defies belief. Trista is calling LE's bluff.

It will be interesting to see what develops.

...I agree. I thought this in Jan., and I still think it. I think what we're hearing now is meant to pressure MSP, as well as, someone who may know something about what happened to Ayla to come forward.
      I hope it works.

    8. Showing pictures of blood and graphic computerized re-creations of Ayla's supposed death at Justin's hands goes far beyond "what a mother should know".

It feels more like "what a suspect should know" to me.

    10. It feels more like "what a suspect should know" to me.

So Trista, Grace, is a suspect and LE is telling a suspect what the suspect should know?

Is this in line with your theory that Justin and Trista are "in it together" and maybe Jeff too? And so Justin and Trista both got the same info?

I think it is so nice that both suspects, Justin and Trista, had everything put on the table for them by LE. So they both know what's up.

Ah, that devious Trista! She probably bailed Justin out of jail!

"On September 24, 2013 LE the ball is going to be in your court. What will you do?"
I think this might be a case of "alley oop":
An offensive play in which a player throws the ball up near the basket to a teammate (or, more rarely, to himself) who jumps, catches the ball in mid air and immediately scores a basket, usually with a slam dunk.

  11. Opinion on why no arrest (yet)? Because if they arrest someone for obstruction or something of that ilk, to prove their case they have to disclose a lot of evidence that would form the core of a murder case. If they were contemplating holding off on murder charges until they have a body or give up on finding it, they probably don't want their murder case played out in advance in an obstruction trial. Remember that in a tactical sense, time is on their side. Unless a statute of limitations is about to run, they can wait and keep their evidence secret; if no new evidence comes along, they can file with what they had all along and if new evidence comes along, even better. The delay is horrible for Ayla's family but it isn't likely to hurt the prosecution's case. JMO.

  12. Once again CG, I believe that you are correct. I completely understand Trista and her family's frustration that arrests have not been made. I sincerely hope that law enforcement is still conducting searches for little Ayla behind the scenes. I also hope that some private searches are done in the near future with specially trained dogs. I am sure that a nonprofit group like Klaas Kids would help coordinate a search. There is also Equisearch (sp) out of Texas.

  13. Why no arrests with so much evidence ? IMO i believe its because someone helped Justin.. and LE wants to be sure to get all the players to truly give Alya the justice she deserves. I also believe Le is 100 percent behind Trista bringing the evidence to the public..they will just never admit it. A pressure cooker for sure.

cry - definition of cry by the Free Online Dictionary, Thesaurus and ...
      www.thefreedictionary.com/cry‎
      v. cried (kr d), cry·ing, cries (kr z). v.intr. 1. To sob or shed tears because of grief, sorrow, or pain; weep. 2. To call loudly; shout. 3. To utter a characteristic sound

How the hell do the "random searches and testing" work? Does this mean Justin must let LE know his whereabouts at all times until his court date?

Justin is often hard to locate. His voice mail is often full or his cell phone disconnected. We don't know where he regularly rests his head at night.

I do know these are often conditions when on probation/parole. You must submit to random testing, and you must let your probation/parole officer know when you skip town...

Do these sort of conditions apply when out on bond? How do you search/test someone if they decide to, say, camp out deep in the woods for a couple of weeks or hop a ferry to Nova Scotia?

Do Justin's bail restrictions prohibit him from coming and going as he pleases between now and September 25?

Kind of hard to search/test someone if they aren't around to be searched/tested.

    1. When he was stopped the officer got the whole print out on him and did the search. He probably never would have been checked if not stopped for the sticker violation. They can come to your house anytime and check not that they do unless someone calls and complains for loud music or a party going on.They could send a cruiser by his house and if his vehicle was there stop and do a search if Justin wasn't there they would be asking family where he was, and go from there.I don't know if there was any restrictions on where he could go or not, sometimes you are not allowed to leave the state. People do and just don't get caught doing anything wrong, as long as they show up for their court date no one is the wiser. They would keep his vehicle plate number in the system but Justin could go in another vehicle with someone else.

"On the night that the boy died, Nelson told Hartford detectives, he got up during the night in their Capitol Avenue apartment, picked up Noah and carried him "football-style," with the child facing the floor. He said he slipped and fell, landing on the infant's head. The child started gasping for air and his arms twitched and shook, according to the warrant for Nelson's arrest. Nelson then put Noah facedown in his crib and went back to bed."
