FYI

I did a search on www.irs.gov to see if This Little Light of Maine is able to solicit funds under the guise of being a non profit and the answer is a resounding...NO.

I searched under www.thislittlelightofmaine.org as well as .com and also under This Little Light of Maine and This Little Lite of Maine just to be on the safe side. I urge you all to do your own search to verify the results. DO NOT DONATE MONEY TO THIS GROUP!!!

  1. A person should never give money to any person or entity who claims that money will go in a "fund", unless that person/entity can offer official verification of not-for-profit status. There are people out there who will take advantage of the vulnerability of those who are emotionally attached to a missing person. Don't be fooled by their apparent "desire" to help. Only give to official sources. Always ask for proof of status to be safe.

Does anyone know how to report Angela for fraud? I want to report her now. Please advise. Thank you.

  3. Get out of my head, Justice. I was just looking into that. I'm actually still looking into this whole scam of a "missing children's fund" and these idiot's must really want to be charged and arrested. Everyone's got their hand in the cookie jar, everyone's sticking themselves in the middle of this mess and they're all going to end up charged. It's really mind-boggling how incredibly dense these people are.

    1. I am telling ya, Great Minds Things Alike!! I am really going to blow you away with my next post. I just got the confirmation I was waiting for.

@Angela is a fraud-I would suspect you would report her to the IRS...

    2. A good source for tax deductible stuff and non-profits is Legal Zoom. With a total package running from 1000-1400$ depending on if you want the paperwork fast tracked and couriered from office to office. All tax free organizations have federal tax numbers and state license numbers. In short you either are or are not in compliance with state and federal paperwork requirements.

  4. Angela is a Fraud, I would first get screenshots of her website where she is claiming the money will got a missing children "fund".

  5. I sit on the board of a couple of non-profits, and while staying within the rules of a 501(c)(3) organization isn't one of my tasks, I do know that there are a lot of rules involved.

No one should ever donate to a "charity" that cannot prove it is a legit 501(c)(3) - or other eligible type of non-profit corporation. Also, I'm not sure you're allowed to solicit funds while your status is still pending. I've never heard of anyone doing that.

Starting a non-profit is complicated business. That's why people in circumstances such as this should encourage the people who want to donate, to donate to an existing 501(3)(c) that is helping them in their efforts. Keep in mind that any donations to an organization without IRS non-profit status (and a verifiable tax ID #) are NOT tax deductible.

If they are going to sell items on zazzle under their alleged non-profit status, they're required to disclose to people how much of their purchase price is deductible (i.e. purchase price minus value of goods received).

Honestly, with their complete lack of understanding on non-profit rules, copyrights, trademarks, libel and defamation, I have no choice but to conclude that these women are fucking morons.

  6. Angela,

My cat, Rufus, has been missing for 4 months now. Can you suggest some ideas in which I can raise some money to pay my credit card bills? I understand that my missing cat and my personal debt don't appear to be related, but I'm thinking that since Rufus is likely in Kitty-Heaven, why not tackle my debt in his memory?

How do I go about this? Make some keychains? Organize a "Walk for Rufus" event? Do you have any insight how I might be able to book Bob Dylan or Lady Gaga for a benefit concert on my (oops...I mean Rufus') behalf?

    TIA!!!!

    3. This killed me. Some much-needed humor.

Tudela & Harry aren't the only ones who aren't in compliance, though. As BookKat said,"Everyone's got their hand in the cookie jar, everyone's sticking themselves in the middle of this mess and they're all going to end up charged."

  7. Shannie and I were talking about this Run for Ayla thing...and one of the reasons it seems so shady is the date. Why so far in the future? If they were concerned with raising funds to actually help find Ayla, why not organize something that can happen now or in the nearer future? Like a bake sale or whatever the hell people do to raise money? They probably don't do that because it'll cost money to make money off of people's charitable natures and good intentions. A run is probably cheaper to organize and get the word out about and get them the money they want without costing them much. Are they saying where this or any other money they've gotten goes? Why aren't they spending it to help out the people searching for Ayla, like on person mentioned. It's sick that these people are using Ayla to turn a profit and get their 15 minutes of fame. I guess they have no shame when it comes to making a name off a child's blood. Casey Anthony really set off a hot trend, huh?

    1. I forgot to add, the other shadiness factor of the Run...that the possible reason for so late a date would be to get as much money as they could possibly rake in from now til May and then call the thing off at the last minute since they've got that huge NO REFUNDS shit up. There's nothing keeping them from fucking people over and it's not like they haven't been doing that this whole time with Ayla, Trista and all their family, friends and supporters.

      Delete
    2. BooKat - I think the NO REFUNDS might be the biggest font on that site.

In addition, the word "copyright" appears approximately 452 times more often than Ayla's name. So, I guess we know where Angela's priorities are. She's more concerned that the evil bitches won't copy and paste her drivel than she is about finding Ayla.

Of course, she might already know where Ayla is, being so close to Justin and all.

  8. Can one set up a, "FUND" versus a "NON-PROFIT" and what are the basic guidlines for this. I would assume one has to be accountable for where the money goes from a fund also. I have seen, "FUNDS set up for those who homes have burned down or have an ill family member and that basically gets handed over to a family member with no questions asked on what it is used for.

    1. Chicky, typically those kind of funds, along with reward funds are set up at banks - with the bank as the trustee. It's a quick way to get the fund set up, and begin taking donations. A lot of times, without a non-profit as a go-between, those funds are not tax deductible.

But, in emergency situations like that, people will usually still donate and not give a crap about the deduction. They just want to help people who've lost everything.

And, having the bank administer the fund gives people peace of mind that it's not going into someone's pocket. If the TLLOM scammers wanted to use their "run money" for a similar fund (i.e. just to provide expenses for searches for Ayla, etc.), this would totally be an option for them.

Banks help with emergency funds like this ALL the time. So, they could easily find one to help them navigate the process.

  9. Lmao really a fund now...all they have to do.is TELL THE TRUTH... Then no need for a fund or a walk or anything cuz ayla would be found....i guess they lack common sense...

  10. J4A,

I know this will sound wierd but I think AH & HT have done us all a favor! They have set a date of May 11th for the arrests of Justin, Phoebe, Courtney, Hiedi, and Angela at a minimum! They just forced LE hands, and I think that there will be federal charges for Ah & HT! At least I am hoping!

    ReplyDelete

    1. The Federal charges will be if any monies are collected from out of state through mail. Maybe I outta just go ahead and send my $5 contribution the call the AG to file a fraud by mail complait! HMMMM

  11. Perhaps im overly cynical of the "J Crew" after seeing what they have done and said since day one of this fiasco and how putting a spin on things really does seem to get into some peoples heads and they loose their own common sense. The tip to LE about Trista being spotted in Portland with Ayla which LE investigated and determined it wasnt true, seems like it may have been one of them trying to create another diversion and take the attention off Justin and on to innocent people. I hope that tipster was investigated.

  12. To Justin from a friend:

Hey Bro' man, what's up! Which da ya think is the smarter move, 18 years of child support or 45+ years of continuous poundin' man!! Them there fella's in the cellblock are takin dibs on who gets ya first. Before they are done with ya man, you will be begging for them to do the same thing to you, that you DID to Ayla. Jeez, Bro, you didn't think that out very well!!!Karma is a Bitch!

  13. No one on TLLOM is asking for anyone's money. No one is making any money on Ayla in that group. Why you, Tori, are so concerned about it is beyond me. You, who uses a little girl's disappearance to gather yourself a cult like following, while accusing others of the same. The part that blows me away is that these incredibly talented and generous people, on that page, don't care what you say. They don't care about you at all. There are a few that will read a thing or two and then vent about it but as a rule, your thoughtless and childish self centered words on lost on them. They don't care. They have one purpose and one purpose only, to find Ayla and even you with all your lies and absurd stories can't stop them from doing everything they can to reach their goal. They are amazing people. If you're so worried about anyone selling anything or collecting money, go lurk and insult the people on Ayla's Angels. They are selling things and planning events. Why not pick on somebody else for a while? There are enough people looking for the real truth that you could never destroy their efforts with your silly little blog. If you only knew the amazing tasks being accomplished by the people who are truly looking for Ayla, well, someone like you couldn't appreciate it anyway. Blog away with your silly words and no one will miss you at Ayla's homecoming.

    2. No one is asking for anyone's money? Why does it say on www.thislittlelightofmaine.org that there will be no refunds on the First Ayla Bell Run? Why is there a store set set up on zazzle.com selling business cards, mini flyers, and other items used to spread awareness? Ayla's Angels aren't selling anything they are just asking that you send either 5 stamps or $1.95 for the bracelets. There is a big difference. They are not claiming to be a nonprofit group like Angela is. I checked with the IRS, she is not a nonprofit group and it is immoral to suggest otherwise.

If you don't like my blog, don't read it. Simple as that. I have a right to post my opinions just like you do and I guess if you didn't want me coming after TTLOM, you shouldn't have posted my personal information on there first. I guess whoever posted it should have thought about that first.

Why isn't Justin working with LRC anymore? If you want to discredit me and Jeff Hanson so badly and quiet us then prove that Justin is still working with LRC. You can't because he isn't and isn't it funny how Heidi avoids that question or refers it to Angela. Why Justin lives in her home. I will not stop until Ayla is found and I can guarantee that if Ayla is alive, Justin will not get her back, her maternal family will and I will be invited to that homecoming, you on the other hand will probably be busy visiting Justin in jail

  14. Anon 3:19 (or should I say Confused TLLOM member)... If you really believed what you are saying you wouldn't have to say it anonymously.

Amazing people at TLLOM? Hardly, they spend more time talking about trashing others, going to blogs and causing problems, laughing at people who care about Ayla and pray that the truth is told soon. TLLOM spends most of their time gossiping about people and every so often throw in a prayer for Ayla. Not to mention the 1000's of useless photo edits that are only seen by a handful of people in the private group. Oh, they talk a good game, but most of those in there probably never leave their computer screens or phones long enough to do anything productive.

Heck, just today I saw Angela admonishing a person (Derek) who dared to mention that people there should get some jobs. Angela even went so far as to mention that "My husband has put his life on the line many times to protect your freedoms." Really, this is important? Why? Does Angela believe in the freedom of speech? What that one of the freedoms that Angela's husband singlehandly protected for all of us? How does Angela know that Derek isn't a war veteran? She doesn't, does she. Oh and then she booted Derek.

My point? TLLOM members are just gossiping hens who have nothing better to do then to help Justin find excuses for his piss poor behavior as a human being.

Explain the blood Justin? Explain your absense Justin?

  15. HA...I love how the pissed off Anon shows up in defense of TLLOM, insisting they and their followers don't care what's said about them. Then why the need to crash Justice's write-up and try to convince her readers of it? If they didn't care, there would be no need to tell us. They'd just let it go and ignore it. So this "anonymous" poster has really just let us all know how much what Justice and everyone else says against them bothers them. It gets under their skin and irritates the shit out of them so much they just had to send someone over to tell how much they don't care instead of ignoring it and moving on. I think that's awesome and it tickles me pink. They should be annoyed, fuck knows they've annoyed enough people themselves with their lying and ass covering. Annoyed probably isn't the right word though. Enjoy your jail time when you get busted for fraud, masquerading as a missing children's fund. I'd say you should be ashamed of yourselves, but since you use Ayla to make a buck, you obviously have no shame.

    1. I know funny right? They also spend plenty of time talking about me on the private members only TTLOM group and what I say. For people who don't care, they seem to talk about me an awful lot. I also find it funny that the ones who come on here to defend Angela and Heidi keep saying how they dont ask anyone for money but what about the Ayla Run and the Zazzle store? If they don't ask for money what is their missing child fund? Half the members probably never even have been to www.thislittlelightofmaine.org. They have enough time to come on here and respond to me but I am still waiting for the proof that Justin is working with the Laura Recovery Center. It is a pretty easy way to verify that I am full of shit. Have Justin send Dawn Davis an email and screenshot it, easy enough. They are full of BS!
